A Customary Court at Igando, near Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the marriage of one Ganiyat Falana, 37, because of adultery. Ganiyat and Dare Falana were until the dissolution of the union, married for 15 years.

 Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, said he was convinced that the couple could no longer live together as the petitioner had insisted on divorce after several interventions.

METRO: 18-year-old man sets family of 5 ablaze in Abuja, reports self to police

A teenager identified only as Sunday, has allegedly killed his parents’ landlady, identified only as Mama Moses.

He reported himself to the police in Abuja after committing the crime.

The incident happened at Tudun-Fulani, in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, during the weekend, where the suspect resided with his patents.

Sunday, 18, was also accused of killing the landlady’s daughter and her three grandchildren, the Punch gathered.

Nigeria: 2,000 Tuberculosis Cases Recorded in Anambra

About 2000 tuberculosis patients are now receiving treatment at some of the Directly Observed Therapy Centres in Anambra State.

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, who disclosed this in Awka at a press briefing earlier in the week, said that outside Anambra, 13 other states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja have contributed about 75 per cent of the total Tuberculosis burden in the country.

Teacher commit sucide ahead of trial for raping pupils

A former elementary school principal awaiting trial on charges of raping possibly dozens of pupils has hanged himself in a prison in central France, sources close to the case said Tuesday.

Fire ravages Sabon Gari Market in Kano

A massive fire that began late Friday at the Sabon Gari Market in Kano, is still raging more than 12 hours after.

The fire started at about 10 PM, and is believed to have destroyed properties worth millions of naira by Saturday morning.

It was not clear what caused the fire. But witnesses said it started around the Sani Abacha Mosque where books and other items are sold, before spreading to Gidan Magge.

Robbers flog passengers to coma along Owukpa-Orokam road for refusing to ‘cooperate’

Suspected robbers, Saturday morning nearly flogged over 18 passengers to death for refusing to “cooperate with them.”

The incident is coming barely 24 hours after some persons were robbed at Onyirada hills, along the Aho-Ukwo road.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident happened around 12am few kilometres away from Orokam, in Benue State.

One Godbless Nnaji undergoing the one-year National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme in Calabar, Cross Rivers state, has allegedly stabbed his boss for refusing to sign his monthly clearance form.

Nnaji, a lawyer, had reportedly tried to persuade his boss, Donald Archibong, in his private chambers in the Calabar-South axis of the state capital to sign his letter.

The 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Owena Barracks, Akure, Ondo State, says it has begun investigation into the death of a 25-year-old woman, Adeyemo Juliana, who was allegedly killed by a yet-to-be identified person suspected to be a soldier.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Brigade, Captain Ojo Adelegan, while confirming the incident to newsmen on Monday, said the incident is unfortunate.
The PRO however, denied the suspect was a soldier.

According to Adelegan, “The incident is unfortunate, but I want to tell you that it was not a soldier that killed the woman. It is not possible, our soldiers cannot do such a thing; they are responsible officers.

Trailer Crushes Keke NAPEP, One Dead

It was sorrow and chaos on Saturday along Abattoir Road, in the Agege area of Lagos State after a trailer driver, identified as Emmanuel George, crushed a tricycle passenger to death.

It gathered that Isa Sanni a passenger in the tricycle was crushed to death when he fell off the tricycle onto the road and was immediately ran over by the front tyres of the trailer.
An angry mob nearly lynched the driver of the trailer to death before policemen saved his life. The incident which happened around 2pm caused a traffic gridlock.

 PORT HARCOURT – Unidentified gunmen Thursday morning, stormed Mgbuitanwo, in Emohua Clan, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, the home country of the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the Saturday’s rerun elections, Chief Andrew Uchendu, killed and beheaded a  28-year-old man  identified as Mr. Ukeoma. 

Vanguard learnt that the gunmen who laid siege to the community also abducted another resident. At the moment, residents are in shock and fear  permeates the area.

Lagos – An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 14-year-old teenager (names withheld) at the Boys Correctional Centre, Isheri, a suburb of Lagos, for allegedly raping a five-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

JUSTICE: I was pushed by evil forces – Deacon who raped 7-year-old girl in Lagos

A certain 44-year-old man, Obinna Aneke, who claims to be a deacon of Jesus Saves Pentecostal church in Lagos state, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl, Ngozi.
