Health: Lagos records first successful bone bridge surgery in West Africa
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in December 2015 carried out the first successful Bone Bridge Surgery in West Africa as well as successful Cochlear Implant surgeries on three deaf patients without the support of foreign doctors, the state government said on Tuesday.
LASUTH also had its first successful Kidney Transplant carried out by its team of urologists and nephrologists in November 2015 and discharged the patient in good condition on December 1, 2015, while another transplant is being planned, a state by Habib Aruna, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akinwumi Ambode, said.

Health:New HIV Testing, Treatment Begins in Endemic States
A new scheme to conduct free HIV testing and counseling has commenced in six states classified as HIV endemic in Nigeria.
The project, which begins tomorrow (Thursday), is a collaboration between states, local councils and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF).
The scheme targets Anambra, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Cross River and Abuja and plan to test about 15,000 persons per day.

Lagos — Nigeria has recorded the first successful birth of a baby conceived from frozen egg of a 44-year-old woman, who had suffered infertility for eight years, making it the first in the country and West Africa.
