Worried by the ill preparation of the Ministry of Sports prior to the take-off of the recently-concluded Rio Olympics, the Nigeria Senate may probe the roles of the Minister of Sport, Solomon Dalung and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) over the poor performance of the country’s contingent to the global event.

Dream Team VI suffered their first loss at the male soccer event of the Rio 2016 Olympics, losing 2-0 to Colombia at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Thursday morning.

Coach Samson Siasia prosecuted the game with a markedly changed side, bringing in Daniel Akpeyi, Kingsley Madu, Aminu Umar, Popoola Saliu and Ndifreke Udo in place of Emmanuel Daniel, Abdullahi Shehu, Imoh Ezekiel, Stanley Amuzie and Usman Muhammed.

THISDAY checks at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed last night that Siasia settled for the players because of established history of long ties among other pressing exigencies.
Godfrey Oboabona, who was also one of Siasia 's prime targets for the overage picks, ultimately did not make the final cut because his Turkish club, Çaykur Rizespor insisted he would not be released for the Olympic football event.
