Nigerian troops ‘rescue 157 captives as 77 Boko Haram members surrender’

Nigerian troops deployed in Borno State have rescued several abducted persons, arrested suspected Boko Haram terrorists, and recovered weapons and equipment, the army said in a statement.
The troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion, 25 Task Force Brigade on Monday received 79 persons who claimed to have been kept captives by Boko Haram terrorists at Ngwalimiri village but escaped at their location.

No fewer than six persons have been reportedly killed after Boko Haram terrorists stormed a village in Ladi Butai in Jere Local Government Area, near Maiduguri, Borno State capital on Tuesday.
Vigilantes and residents alleged that the insurgents opened fire on villagers at about 9pm.

Niger to hand over Boko Haram fighters to ICCThe Niger Government has arrested scores of Boko Haram militants and would hand them over to the International Criminal Court (ICC), President Mahamadou Issoufou, has said.
This is contained in a document from the World Humanitarian Summit, ongoing in Istanbul, Turkey, made available to reporters in New York.
It indicated that Issoufou spoke on Tuesday during a high-level leaders’ round table titled: “Uphold the Norms that Safeguard Humanity.”
He said the Nigerien government would ensure the militants are tried by the ICC.
“This is something that all countries should do,” he said.
