SportBild journalist, Heiko Ostendorp, claims Chelsea have added the German defender to their shortlist of potential additions.
He said: "Top of the list of Chelsea for the next season: Mats Hummels - captain of Borussia Dortmund."
The Blues are looking for a defensive leader to replace captain John Terry, who hasn't been offered a contract extension.
